Instructional Coaching is a relatively new, but growing area for ESL/EFL teachers. Many teachers are beginning to recognize that completing a TESL, TESOL, TEFL or CELTA program does not necessarily mean that one is ready for teaching in a virtual classroom.

In this virtual teacher coaching series, an instructional coach works with a new or prospective Online English Teacher in a variety of online workshops. The coach shares methods and provides best practices for online instruction, student engagement and virtual community building. Training is provided for using synchronous technologies i.e. Skype and the virtual classroom for ESL instruction. Information on current social media and other emerging technologies being used for virtual instruction is provided; as well as student performance measurements to individualize instruction in an online environment. Each online workshop can be taken independently. The coaching series concludes with a final quiz that will give you the opportunity to integrate and apply the skills you have throughout the coaching series by teaching using the virtual classroom.
